A Level 5 qualification on the UK National Qualifications Framework (England, Wales, and Northern Ireland).

The Diploma in Islamic Banking introduces you to a values-driven alternative to conventional banking, showing how interest-free finance can be built on profit-sharing, risk-sharing, fairness, and transparency.

Using clear examples and case studies, the course explains how Islamic financial transactions are structured to promote accountability and economic justice. It is designed for both students and professionals, providing a strong foundation in interest-free banking principles and practices.

Graduates who wish to progress to the IIBI Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Banking may be eligible for exemptions from Modules 1 and 2. Please contact IIBI for details.

Registration and Enrolment

You will need to meet the following requirements to register for the Diploma in Islamic Banking course:

  • Have two “A” Level passes plus four GCSE passes at Grade A, B or C. We will also consider other equivalent alternatives.
  • Be at least 18 years old at the time of submitting the application.
  • Have a good working knowledge of English.
  • Provide the names of two referees who may be approached for verification.
  • If you do not have any “A” level passes but have been in employment for at least three years in the banking or a related sector, please complete the online application form so we are able to make a decision on whether it is appropriate to enrol you onto the course.

The operates on a rolling admissions basis for all its courses by distance learning. This means that we will continue to register applicants for a course all year round.

The course fee is £720.00

You can make payment online by Paypal with your Debit or Credit Card.

You can also make payment by bank transfer; we will advise you details in our letter confirming your registration.

We do not offer any fee subsidy for this course.

LESSON 6: Principles of Islamic Commercial Contracts

This lesson aims to develop knowledge and understanding about the main principles of Islamic commercial contracts and coupled with lesson 3 provides the foundation and broader parameters which may be used in developing and/or examining and evaluating the permissibility of a contract.

LESSON 7: Islamic Law of Sale and Purchase

The lesson builds on the knowledge gained in previous lessons and discusses the importance of trading in Islamic economic framework, and the rules of buying and selling at a profit, the primary structure in Islamic financing.

Assessment & Examination

You do not have to take any examination at the end of the course.

At the end of each lesson there is an online examinations featuring Multiple-Choice, True or False, and short-answer questions. This method ensures a comprehensive evaluation of students’ knowledge and understanding across a broader range of topics, as opposed to traditional assignments that rely on lengthy essays based on two or three questions.

The multiple choice, true or false are graded automatically according to the number of correct answers. The written answers submitted to questions are graded by the tutor assigned to you.

The assessments grades by the tutor are subject to an internal review at the Institute.

You will have to complete the course successfully before we can issue a certificate awarding the qualification for the applicable course.

Completion of Course

You will need to complete the Diploma in Islamic Banking course in nine months. An average of 10 hours a week is recommended for study and submitting assignments.

If you find yourself unable to complete the course within the allotted period of nine months, then you may request for an extension in order to complete the course. Your request with reasons should be submitted within the nine months, to info@giibic.com for the attention of ‘Course Coordinator.

The distance learning method was chosen for all courses. You can study in the comfort of your own home, during breaks at the office, at your own pace and according to your convenience, (though bearing in mind that each course must be completed within the specified period from the date you are registered with us. At the time we confirm your registration for a course we will provide you with information to access the learning material on our online learning platform – IIBI Virtual Learning Environment.

To successfully complete a distance learning courses while doing a full time job requires drive and determination.

Tutor Support

Once you are registered onto to the diploma course, you will be assigned a tutor.

The tutor will grade the written answers of your assignments submitted and provide feedback with grade achieved.

For assignments in some lessons, you will only need to answer multiple choices questions. Your answers will be marked automatically and graded A, B, C, or D according to the number of correct answers.
